Start out back. 2209 Dana Drive has an in-ground pool with a water feature, a patio, and a wood privacy fence around the yard. That's reason one. Reason two is the layout. It's a single-story brick home built in 1991, with 2,243 square feet and 3 full baths. There's a big second primary suite with its own bath and walk-in closet, plus an office with built-in shelving and its own outside door. The kitchen has a gas cooktop, granite, and a breakfast nook in a bay window. Reason three is where it sits. It's inside Rowlett city limits in the Lakecrest neighborhood. Lake Ray Hubbard parks with a fishing pier and a kayak launch are about 5 minutes away. Downtown Dallas is about 25 minutes by I-30.

The home isn't on the water. But Lake Ray Hubbard is close. Texas Parks and Wildlife lists the lake at 21,671 acres, owned by the City of Dallas. It's known for white and hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie.

Two city parks on the lake are about 5 minutes from the house. Paddle Point Park has a launch for canoes, kayaks, and jon boats, a floating dock, and access to the Paddle Point Creek paddling trail. Lakeside Park South sits on 6.4 acres with a fishing pier, picnic areas, and small pavilions.

Coffee first. Drizl Coffee on Lakeview Parkway is known for its tiramisu latte and a long matcha menu. Downtown, La Casita Coffee on Main Street does pastries and a menu that changes with the season.

Dalrock Diner on Dalrock Road is a 1950s-style diner. People come for breakfast, the Greek plates, and the cinnamon roll French toast.

Ephesus Bistro & Grill on Dalrock Road serves Mediterranean food. Hummus, warm bread, falafel, and kebabs are what folks talk about.

For tacos, Los Parrilleros on Lakeview Parkway is an owner-run street taco shop with homemade chips and salsa. Try a torta.

The weekly grocery run is on Lakeview Parkway, with Tom Thumb and a Walmart Neighborhood Market.

Rowlett started as Morris. The first post office opened in 1880 under that name, then the town was renamed for Rowlett Creek, a tributary of the East Fork of the Trinity River. The railroad came through in 1889. The Bankhead Highway reached town in 1921. Residents voted to incorporate in 1952, and 84 people cast those votes.

Then the lake came. The City of Rowlett says Lake Ray Hubbard gives the city more than 30 miles of shoreline. The 2020 Census counted 62,535 people.

The home is inside Rowlett city limits, on the Dallas County side.

Downtown Rowlett is about 10 minutes away on Main Street. The city's biggest night is Fireworks on Main every July 4 at Pecan Grove Park, with live music, food trucks, and fireworks. In spring, Live on Main brings Friday night events to downtown.

Rowlett High School is the city's namesake campus. The Eagles play home football games at Homer B. Johnson Memorial Stadium in Garland, known locally as "HBJ."
